About the event
With food waste at an all time high, what better way can we use up leftover ingredients, things that otherwise would be going to our compost or landfill, while also making a cheap and quick snack.Â
We will explore how to make traditional Chinese dumplings which are made on the Lunar Year eve to bring good fortune. These simple dumplings can be made with a variety of ingredients and are both cost effective while being a great way to use up left over vegetables in your fridge. I will show you how to make the dough from scratch, make your filling, cook your dumplings and finally how to create a great dipping sauce.
My name is Tai and I grew up with my Chinese grandfather who taught me the importance of food and family. Making Chinese food is a passion and helps me connect with my heritage, while helping me make better environmental choices by making these foods from scratch. I’ve been cooking since 5 years old, learning the secrets to Chinese cooking and love to share these with others so they can enjoy home cooked Chinese food that’s affordable and adaptable for your budget and dietary requirements.Â
