About the event

Marilyn Mason will give a very brief review of some ethical theories, including Bentham’s Utilitarianism and answer to this question, whether or how these theories might apply to other animals, and where we might draw the line. 

Recommended reading: Animals and Why They Matter by Mary Midgley; and a video by Peter Singer on Non-Human Animal Ethics (21 mins). 

Marilyn has taught philosophy, founded the Humanist Philosophers Group when she worked for the British Humanist Association, and organised Kingston Philosophy Café for some years.
