About the event
“Encounter, Engagement, and Expression: Navigating Kingston with Art” by Vegecoopia - Community Artwork and Project Exhibition
Date: 24th Nov - 22nd Dec, Every Saturday & Sunday
Time: 12:00 - 16:00
Venue: Kingston Hive
This is a community art project that aims to connect Kingston HongKongers to nature as well as their surrounding community through “shutters” and “stitches” - a series of artistic workshops focusing on photography and textile art. The whole process engages immigrants with multicultural and intergenerational interaction, and more importantly serves as a creative channel for immigrants to tell their own stories in a safe space.
This exhibition is set to showcase the final work, the three tapestries, as the creative outcome of the project. Representing the three communities where the workshops had taken place, the tapestries are constructed by all the participants' individual works, which symbolically weave the different perspectives, voices and stories of Kingston residents and HongKongers.
