About the event
WHAT TO EXPECT Lacto fermentation is a simple and safe way to preserve foods by encouraging good bacteria. Foods fermented this way help to make certain nutrients more bio-available, plus have the added bonus of encouraging a healthy gut bacteria. So as well as preserving foods, it is very healthy.
TIMINGS The course starts at 3pm (please feel free to come earlier and chat to me or any of the friendly people at The Hive). We will end by 5pm,
WHAT TO BRING - Please bring something that you would like to ferment (greens, vegetables, fruits, etc). Ideally whatever you have that is seasonally abundant. Cabbage is probably the most popular first ferment. - Salt - Pickling jars/ordinary jars (with lids) - Some form of weight to keep solids down (gu pots seem to work well for most pickling jars) - Chopping boards. Knives, Mixing bowl.
